York Rite Conferences
Gather for Fraternity, Fellowship and Learning
Since the formation of the international bodies of the General Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons and the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar, it has been only natural that Grand jurisdictions would be interested in the activities of the sister jurisdictions near them. The benefit of sharing ideas, as well as working towards a uniformity of work while at the same time preserving their local traditions and unique aspects, has been a driving force in the State and National leadership since their inception.
Traditionally, the jurisdictions of these bodies have been divided up into districts/departments, doing their best to connect neighboring jurisdictions to one another. These districts/departments often include several states, connected to each other and operating in a similar fashion. These districts usually hold annual conferences where these jurisdictions gather, share ideas, create new initiatives, and offer leadership training and educational programs. This is a great opportunity for us all to contribute to the success of the Rite as a whole, and to seek ways to improve our own jurisdictions by utilizing the programs offered as well as the inspiration which comes from the fellowship of our Brethren who are from neighboring jurisdictions.
While it is usually expected that the Grand Officers of each jurisdiction attend their respective district/department conferences, it is also open to any member who wants to come see what is happening beyond his local experience, and to learn as much as possible, should he aspire to a Grand Officer position or just want to improve his local York Rite bodies.
The regional district/department conferences is just one way the York Rite works to improve the Rite, and improve the experience for our members, as well as create a stability and uniformity to the Rite which continues to ensure its prominent place in the Fraternity of Freemasonry.
